Amy Brandts, founding partner of Symphony Financial helped lead a grassroots effort on Capitol Hill highlighting the importance of Americans’ access to affordable, objective financial advice and the need to protect investors. Amy met with members of Congress and their staffs as part of the Financial Services Institute (FSI) team on June 6.
“Speaking to members of Congress and their staff and letting them know what our clients are going through every day is invaluable,” said Amy. “This was an incredible opportunity for us to educate them on what Americans need in terms of financial advice and how current and proposed legislation and regulations impact our clients.”
As part of the FSI grassroots team, Amy spoke with them about these critical issues: reinstating the tax deductibility of financial advisory fees and supporting the PASS Act which would require the creation of an SEC-based best interest standard of care.
The independent financial advisor members of FSI serve more than 15 million American households. FSI members met with over 100 congressional offices including those who serve on House and Senate committees important to the investment community such as the Senate Banking Committee, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, House Financial Services Committee and House Education and Workforce Committee.
