Employees to Wear Jeans December 14 to Raise Awareness and Funds to End Homelessness in Fairfax County
We are proud to participate in Jeans Day 2012 to Put the ZIP on Homelessness! On Jeans Day – Friday, December 14 – businesses, government entities and agencies, non-profits and civic and faith-based organizations in Northern Virginia will allow employees to wear jeans to work or gatherings in exchange for a $5 contribution to End Homelessness.
“We applaud Symphony Financial for stepping up to support the great work to end homelessness that has already been so successful in our community,” said Fairfax Chamber President & CEO Jim Corcoran. “Northern Virginia organizations like Symphony Financial step up every day to support our community in many ways, but we’re especially excited about this opportunity because it’s a chance for their employees to get involved directly.”
Nearly 3,000 children, women and men face homelessness and the threat of severe temperatures and hunger today in the Fairfax County-Falls Church community. The majority of people without homes in our community are children and working families. Homelessness affects everyone, with social and economic costs to the community, including increased public costs for medical care and education.
You can participate as an individual or an organization any time until December 14 by going to the event web site. Jeans Day is facilitated in partnership by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, Fairfax County-Falls Church Partnership to Prevent & End Homelessness, the Connection Newspapers, and Apple Federal Credit Union.
